Also called double-pane glass, it consists of two pieces of glass, with a moisture-absorbing sealant between them. Insulated glass can only be installed into windows or openings that are prepared for this purpose.

What Causes Fog or Condensation in Between the Glass in Your Windows? When the seal between two pieces of glass breaks, it begins to let air in. The difference between the temperature indoors and outdoors causes condensation — moisture collecting in the space between the two panes. We guarantee our insulated glass against condensation. Insulating glass units are fabricated according to project specifications. IG units can be constructed using a large variety of glass products to achieve desired aesthetics, meet design criteria, safety codes and/or to improve solar control and thermal performance.

Insulated glass is produced by taking glass’s thickness into consideration.  A typical sheet of insulated glass uses the base glass with thickness ranging anywhere from 3 mm to 11 mm. Insulated glass can also be produced from tempered glass. A standard insulated glass contains glass layers of same thickness, but special requirements such as security and sound-proof may require various thicknesses for the unit
Glass options include clear, low iron, Low-E's, standard or high performance (spectrally selective) tints, reflective, silk-screened, spandrel, laminated, decorative and wired glass. The glass lites of an IG unit can be annealed, heat-strengthened, tempered or laminated.

Any shape can be cut. Most glass up to ¼” thick can be insulated or made into a double pane.

The waviness on the surface of the tempered glass is a problem in the manufacturing of thin film solar cells. These waves are caused during the process of flattening by the rollers. To solve this problem, the float glass process is used to provide sheets with flat and parallel surfaces with Tempered glass.

Laminated glass flooring is produced by bonding two or more layers of heat treated pressured glass together with a plastic resin interlayer, which is known as Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB).

Multiple PVB glass sheets are more popularly used by the automobile industry and the airline industry for designing windshields.

The PVB interlayer makes glass floors impervious to water damage, it offers sound reduction and blocks 99% of UV rays. PVB interlayers can be customized into different colored sheets to be used by glass manufactures for architects and construction engineers.

The best way to lay a laminated glass floor is by using block pavers with an aluminum grid. This newer method encases the sides and bottom edges of each glass paver block with a silicone sealant rather than the original method of using grout.
